What is Selling?
According to Merrimack-Webster's dictionary, selling is "to persuade or influence to a course of action or to the acceptance of something"
Whether your profession involves selling or not, we are always selling our ideas to another person. As the definition says, "to persuade or influence" another person to do something.
"Selling impacts every person on this planet. Your ability, or inability to sell, persuade, negotiate, and convince others will affect every area of your life and will determine how well you survive" - Grant Cardone
We are human beings and we all have to communicate with each other, and we all have our own desires. Sometimes those desires might be in conflict of another person. We might not like at times, but the person who is more sold on their idea usually wins.
When I say that every human being involves in selling, this is what I mean.
Obviously if you're a car salesperson, you are selling to your costumer is the perfect vehicle and it fits to his needs.
If you're a parent, you're selling your children on the benefits of doing homework, doing chores, or respecting the elderly in general.
If you're a motivational speaker, you are selling your audience of working hard and hope for a better future.
If you're a manager, you're selling your employees to come in at time, serve the costumer well, and being productive, and at the end of the week, if they didn't get fired, they would get a paycheck or even a bonus.
If you're a politician, you're selling the crowd that you will represent them in government in hopes to get their votes.
If you're a suitor, you're selling your potential partner of delightful romance and as a secured protected lover.
I think you get the idea here. The list can go and on endlessly. There's not a single day where you will encounter the 7 plus billion people living here on planet Earth and not communicate with them. You have to sell people your ideas if you want to make them happen.
As Grant says, "Learn to sell and you will get commissions greater than money"
How about you? How do you define selling?
